Marie Jeanette (Mills) Johnson, Age 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 12, 2023, while as a patient at Medical City Denton. Jeanette was a long-time resident of Palo Pinto, Texas, and a friend to many. Jeanette was born in Ranger, Texas, on October 13, 1946, and moved to Palo Pinto County in the early 70’s.
Jeanette was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Palo Pinto where she was also the nursery supervisor. The number of children Jeanette rocked is endless. She was a seamstress all of her life and worked at Vassarette in Eastland before moving to Palo Pinto County where she continued to sew at Bravo Sewing Factory in Mineral Wells. Jeanette cooked at the local convenience store (Red’s) in Palo Pinto for quite some time plus at a former restaurant in Palo Pinto. She loved to decorate cakes, as well. She later became an elderly caregiver for various individuals to include but not limited to Madge Belding, Mamie Clark, John Moore, Margaret Medlin, Lester Beaty, Wanda Carver, Cy Gibson, Lakewell House residents, and so many others.
Jeanette is survived by her three children, daughter Marie Annette (Johnson) Purvis and husband Ricky Purvis, son Allen Glenn Johnson, and daughter Mary Twinette Johnson and fiancée Elias Fuentes. Two grandchildren in particular she raised as her own sons are Jay Jones and Joseph “Joe” Jones. Her grandchildren include Chris Purvis, Nicole Purvis, Aleta Johnson, and Jeannette Fuentes. Great-Grandchildren include Cheyenne Jones, Harper Robinson, Kelsey Carr, Averi Jones, Chris Purvis Jr., Caleb Purvis, Carlston Purvis, Jaedyn Fuentes, Alyssa Delafuente Pope, Ruben Delafuente, Joryen Delafuente, and Jazlyn Delafuente. Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Clara Marie Mills Lobstein; and husband, Albert George “A.G.” Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Palo Pinto. Pallbearers will include Allen Johnson, Lonnie Johnson, Daniel Reddell, Michael Gray, Daniel Medlin,and Blaine Goen. Brother Feral R. Gage will be officiating. Interment will be directly following the service at the Davidson Cemetery between Strawn and Mingus.
