Edwin Donald Cameron

July 11, 1931 — August 25, 2023

It is with deep sorrow and much love, that we mourn the earthly passing of Edwin Donald Cameron a long-time resident of Millsap, Texas at the age of 92. On Friday morning the 25th of August while sleeping next to Mildred Cameron his wife of 67 years Ed passed from this earth to be with his heavenly father. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Edwin, mother Vera Gladys (Smith), brother Robert Wayne, daughter Michelle Jeannette and great grandson Logan Scott.

Born in Renwick Iowa on July 11th, 1931 he grew up with his four brothers and a sister working on the farm helping his family earn a living. After graduation from Renwick High School, Ed held down odd jobs prior to his call from Uncle Sam. Ed spent 21 months in the army during which he served in Korea where he was awarded:

• Two bronze service stars
• The Korean Service Medal
• United Nations Service Medal
• National Defense Service Medal
• Good Conduct Medal
throughout his military service.

In 1956 he met the love of his life Mildred Jeannette Warland whose beauty and grace convinced him to trade in his motorcycle and begin their life’s journey together.

Aviation was a passion of Ed’s, and he began his formal education at Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon completion of aviation training, Ed worked at various crop-dusting and other aircraft related businesses until in 1966 he found himself in Mineral Wells, Tx at Edo Air Mitchel working with autopilots. Just thirteen years later he and four other men founded S-TEC Corporation. They designed and put into production an autopilot system for general aviation aircraft including single-engine and light twin airplanes. In addition to pioneering autopilot systems, S-TEC produced a line of avionics including developing and marketing a line of drones. Officially Ed retired in 1997 but continued working as a part-time engineering liaison between S-TEC and the aircraft manufacturers. This occasionally provided the opportunity for him and his wife to travel internationally. In 2000 Ed retired completely when S-Tech was sold.

Throughout all his days on this earth, he never forgot that the Lord was walking with him, sometimes carrying him. This ministry was apparent through his deeds and actions and his wife and family carry on this legacy. Ed will be deeply missed by his family and community. We are all comforted by the fact that our Lord is not just walking with him but carrying him to his eternal home. There we will meet him once again in our heavenly bodies.

Ed is beloved and missed greatly by his wife Mildred Jeannette Cameron, daughter Belinda Holub (husband James), son Donald Edwin Cameron (wife Deborah), his six grandchildren Jennifer (husband Adam), Kristina (husband Jason), Brittany, Cherie (husband Cameron), Kimberly, and Bryan (wife Stormie), his great-grandchildren Cailee, Max, Blake, Kane, Trace, Leo, Asher, Benjamin and great-great grandson Adryan. By his sister Doris Slaikeu, brothers Jim (wife LaDonna), Marvin (wife Sue), and Dale (wife Colleen). We are all so very proud and grateful for the legacy Ed left to flourish with his family and community.

Services will be at 10:30am on September 2nd at the Millsap Church of Christ followed by lunch at the Millsap Community Center. Please make any charitable donations to the Chrisitan Relief Fund for which Ed and Milly share a passion.
