Zella Thorman, 92, went to be with her Lord in the early morning hours of September 30, 2017. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 2 at the North Oak Church of Christ. Visitation is Sunday, Oct. 1 at Baum Carlock Bumgardner from 6p.m. to 8 p.m.She was born Zella Mae Lyles on January 19, 1925 to John Howard and Stella May Lyles. She grew up at the Black Flat area in Archer County, and graduated from high school at Holliday, Texas in 1941. After completing Beauty School, she was working in Iowa Park, Texas when she met and married the love of her life, Raymond Thorman. They had a beautiful relationship, and were blessed to have 73 years together. They were a great example to their family and friends. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2016.After she retired from her profession as a beautician, she started baking cookies and other desserts for friends, which soon expanded to others. She was known as the "Cookie Lady" around town for all of her delicious cookies that she made for various functions. Cooking for people was pure joy and a true ministry for her. Besides cooking, she loved studying God's word, singing, serving others, and being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Thorman, son, Raymond Lee Thorman, her parents, three brothers and a sister.Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carole & Rodney Henderson, granddaughter and husband Jill & Landon Horton, and three great-granddaughters, Lucy, Violet and Sawyer Horton, several nieces and nephews and many friends.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Foster's Children's Home in Stephenville, Texas or the North Oak Church of Christ in Mineral Wells.
