William Thomas Farmer

William (Bill) Thomas Farmer earned his angel wings on December 22, 2021 and went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 92.

Bill was born November 16, 1929, in Vendor, Arkansas, the son of Simon and Tilda Farmer. He was the oldest of 5 siblings. He grew up on the farm and helped his family with farming until he was drafted into the Army. He served his country as Private First-Class William T. Farmer/Artillery in the United States Army in the Korean War from November 1951 to July 1952. When he returned home from the Army, he married his first wife in October of 1952. They moved to Texas for he had the opportunity to get on the ground floor of the new General Motors Plant in Arlington, TX; building cars on the assembly line.

Bill and his first wife had two daughters together. In December of 1963 he married his second wife Juanita Morse; they made their home in Arlington for many years.

After 30 years, he retired from General Motors and he and his wife built their home in Mineral Wells, TX off the Brazos River and lived there for 35 years. Bill designed and built his home with his own hands. The two rock fireplaces he built himself from the rocks from the river on his property.

He served eleven years on the board of directors at the United Way Chapter in Fort Worth, TX. Bill served 15 years on the board of directors at the Mineral Wells Senior Center. He put many, many countless hours in volunteering his service to the Mineral Wells Senior Center.

Bill was a Master Mason of the Sunrise Daylight Lodge #1433 in Fort Worth, TX for 45 years. He and his wife were members of the singing group Silver Notes for many years. They entertained the community at the nursing homes and special events. He and his wife were elected as Senior King and Queen of the Crazy Water Festival in Mineral Wells in October 1998.

His passion in life was the love he had for his family, children, grandchildren and step grandchildren. His favorite hobby was treasure hunting and dowsing. He was an avid treasure hunter. He loved to sing old country songs and record himself singing his favorite songs along with playing his guitar.

Bill was a very devoted husband, father and papa.

He was a very loving, caring and giving man to his family and anyone else that needed help. That was Bill’s nature of his giving heart to always help others. Bill had a heart of gold. He was a God-fearing man and a strong man of his faith in God.

He was a man of his word; never going back on his word to anyone. He was a man known for his strong integrity.

He was a man of many trades in his lifetime. Bill was a farmer, carpenter, roofer and landscaper. He worked at General Motors for 30 years, the last eight years as a quality control inspector, before he retired.

Bill will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Tilda Farmer; his brothers, Walter and Delbert; his sister, Jeanetta; his wife, Juanita; and his stepson, Robert Morse.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Phyllis Farmer and Connie Allenbrand and husband Rick; grandchildren, Bryan J. Sleeman and girlfriend Katie Kimball, and his adopted son, Dakota Manire, and Christy Ellsworth; great-grandchildren; Bryan R. Sleeman and Ashton Ellsworth; step grandchildren; Joe Alan, Jr., Tonya and husband Ricky, and Allen; great step grandchildren; Matthew, Kaitlyn, Justin and Zachary; his sister, Geneva Freeman; granddaughter, Somer Rojo; step-son, Joe Morse, Sr.;  nephews, Steve Smith and Jeffrey Owens.

Funeral services are 2pm, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11^th Avenue Church with visitation one hour prior to the service, also at the church. Interment will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery.
