On Friday, January 8, 2021, William “Earl” Bland, loving husband, father, and grandfather went to meet his Lord and Savior. Earl was born February 16, 1945 in Lamesa, Texas to Charlie and Lou Ellen Bland. He joined the US Navy October 31, 1962 where he served as an electrician. Earl married Carol “Cookie” Bland in the mid 1960’s and had a son, Brian “Scott” and daughter Tracey. He retired after 24 years of service as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was ordained to preach. Services will be 2 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 1 PM to service time at the church prior to the service.
Earl loved God, family especially his grandchildren, golf, and football. God came first in his life and he had no problem letting everyone know that. He could make any activity into his ministry by sharing Bible verses that fit into the situation and then explain God’s meaning in a way you could understand.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Lou Ellen Bland, brothers Steve Smith, Russell Bland, and his son Scott Bland.
