Wesley M. Slimp passed peacefully from this earth into the arms of our Lord and Savior, surrounded by the love of his family, on his 89th birthday, April 13, 2021.
Born in Pleasant Valley, Tx on April 13, 1932 to Silas H. and Martha Agnes Broomfield Slimp. He married Barbara A. Bean on January 1, 1955. Wesley lived in Palo Pinto County all of his life. He served in the US Army and was active duty in the Korean Conflict. He made a living as a mechanic, both helicopter and auto, and retired from this career in 1997. He later picked up the hobby and career of woodworking.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, DoraBeth and George Sims; his brother, Walter Slimp.
Wesley and Barbara were blessed with 5 children: sons, Marshall (Gail) Slimp, Marvin (Lisa) Slimp, David (Joanna)Slimp, Wayne (Shanna) Slimp; daughter, Debbie (Kevin) Donaldson; grandchildren, Shane (Amy) Slimp, Kenny (Kait) Slimp, Bradley (Megan) Slimp, Joshua (Abery) Knights-Potts, Taylor (Maury) Potts, Cooper (Brandie) Slimp, Brian (Amanda) Slimp, Robert (Alicia) Slimp, Garrett (Aleq) Slimp, Jacob Slimp, Keith Glover, and Kaitlin Glover; sister, Cathy (Jerry) Ellis; brother, Don (Carol) Slimp; sister-in-law, Martha Slimp; numerous great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Annex from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 16th. Funeral services will be at the Lone Camp Community Center, in Lone Camp, Texas at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021. Burial will follow at Santo North Cemetery.
