Weldon Eddy Newman

February 14, 1947 — July 5, 2020

Weldon Eddy Newman, 73, departed from this life on July 5, 2020, after a brave and long struggle with cancer.  He was born February 14, 1947, to Edgar Lee and Myrtle Weldon Newman in Mineral Wells.  He was the grandson of John Kennedy and Margaret Costello Weldon and Clarence and Betty Newman, both of the Possum Kingdom Lake area.

Weldon started his career by proudly serving in the US Army and began in law enforcement with the Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Department.  He worked 30 years for the Brazos River Authority, and completed his career in 2019 with the Parker County Sheriff’s Department.  He worked tirelessly serving the people, and was always highly respected by those that knew and served with him.  He loved his family and the western way of life.  Weldon’s values and integrity could be easily recognized by his conduct and the way he treated those around him.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dana, and their three children with spouses, Dana Denise and Alan Davis of Bowie; Beth and Philip Ridley of Mesa, Arizona; and Craig and Kelly Jo Newman of Alpine.  He is survived by his brother, Dr. John (Link) Newman of Dublin and three grandchildren; Carson Sanders, Clancey and Carolyn Newman.
