Virginia Smith, 84, of Mineral Wells, TX, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Palo Pinto nursing home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Edith and Charles Maricle. On Nov. 21, 1943, she married Marion Smith. Virginia was a homemaker for most of her life, concentrating on taking care of her husband and children. She later started selling Avon. She was a member of the Mineral Wells Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Survivors include daughters; Marian Kay Larsen and husband, John of Vernon Hills, IL, Nancy Burns and husband, Randy of Neodesha, KS, Sandra Quigley and husband, Jim of Graham, TX, Brenda Furr and husband, Kenny of Mineral Wells, TX; sons, James Smith and wife, Linda of Little Rock, AR, Wallace Smith and wife, Debbie of Mission, TX, Dwain Smith and wife, Jeanette of Davenport, FL, Jeffrey Smith and wife, Virginia of Weatherford, TX; brothers, Roscoe Maricle, Neil Eugene Maricle, and Delmar Maricle; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; along with many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Wallace Maricle. Services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 31, at Baum-Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Christman Officiating. Internment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, KS, Monday, June 1st at 3pm.
