Virginia Helmick passed away Saturday March 21, 2009 in Mineral Wells, TX. She was born Virginia Lee Bond on January 13, 1935 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to George and Katherine Bond and preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lowell Thomas, Larry and Joel Bond. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Gary Helmick , sisters Evelyn, Andrea, Julia and brother, Wendell. She is also survived by five children, three step-children and their respective spouses. Children include Laureen Kingsley and husband Scott, Anthony Antolini and wife Brenda, Joel Antolini and wife Meeghan McLain, and sons Perry and Lorry Antolini. Step-children include Sheila McCullough and husband Shawn, Nikki Ware and husband Chris, and Kerri Sturgell and husband Dewey. Survivors also include 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her passions were her husband, feeding and caring for birds, gardening, cooking, playing poker and being a park host at Lake Mineral Wells State Park for the past 11 years. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday March 28th at 6:00 pm at the Lone Star Amphitheater in Lake Mineral Wells State Park, Mineral Wells, Texas. Seating at the service will be on the Amphitheatre's natural ledge walls or guests may bring their own lawn chairs. Guests are welcome to join the family for smiles, fond memories and a small barbecue dinner at the park immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Audubon Society or Arbor Foundation.
