Velera Pruser

Velera Lorraine Fox Pruser, Devout Catholic; loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and historian of her family's Irish heritage, died Friday, November 5, 2010, aged 98 years, at Palo Pinto Nursing Center in Mineral Wells, Texas. She was born March 27, 1912 to Pat Fox and Dora Pugh-Fox in the Bethel community of Runnels County, Texas. On November 19, 1932, she married Oscar Colquitt Pruser of the Dale community of Runnels County, Texas. Together they settled near Hatchel, Texas where they farmed and ranched until the late 1960s when they moved to Ballinger, Texas. Following his death, she moved to Mineral Wells, Texas in 1997. She is survived by two daughters Jerry Ann Eaton; Halley Kay Smith and her husband Fred Smith, all currently residing in Mineral Wells, Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters, Doris Marcum of Laguna Niguel, California and Anna Jean Harris of Medford, Oregon. She was predeceased by her parents, Pat and Dora; two sisters, Mary Emma Fox and Mary Biddle; two brothers, Pat Fox and Jerome Darby Fox; and her husband Oscar. The Rosary and visitation will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home, 302 West Hubbard Street, Mineral Wells, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 608 North Sixth Street Ballinger, Texas followed by graveside services at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, Texas.
