Velda Bowen

Velda Jeannine Bowen, 66, of Mineral Wells, TX, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011, at her home. Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, October 17, at the Beulah Baptist Church, located 350 Beulah Road, Millsap. Rev. Greg Willis and Rev. Bob Branch will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Ballew Springs Cemetery with Chase Villarreal, Dylan Bowen, Matt Bowen, Colton Taylor, Myles Bowen, Kyle Cates, Jamie Villarreal, Brian Kirkland serving as pallbearers and Jeff Burson and Robbie Liles serving as honorary pallbearers. Velda was born March 9, 1945, in Mineral Wells the daughter of J. C. and Pearl Louise Peace Liles and graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1963. She married William "Bill" Bowen and he preceded her in death April 6, 2008. She worked at Safeway for 16 years as a meat cutter and later as an administrative assistant in a retail distributor business. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Marty O'Bryant of Mineral Wells; sons and daughters-in-law, Will and Sue Bowen of Lakeville, MN and Jimmy and Mary Bowen of Mineral Wells; grandchildren and spouses, Jamie and Jeannette Villarreal, Summer and Brian Kirkland, Chase Villarreal all of Mineral Wells, Myles Bowen of Minneapolis, MN, Megan and Kyle Cates, Dylan Bowen, Matt Bowen and Colton Taylor all of Mineral Wells; great-grandchildren, Kylee Cates and Paige Kirkland; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Loretta Liles of Weatherford; sister, Karen Burson of Mineral Wells; several nieces and nephews.
