Toy Mitchell Myers passed away Monday, February 24, 2020. She was born in Graford Texas on February 12, 1928; the youngest of 15 children of Orestes and Celia (Nixon) Mitchell.
Toy was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and her family meant everything to her. Toy was beloved by her siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins and enjoyed reminiscing about growing up in rural Texas and riding a horse to grammar school. Farm life wasn’t easy in the 1930’s but it helped make her the strong woman she was. As a student at Graford High School, Toy held a part-time position at Camp Wolters during World War II and met her future husband shortly thereafter. They married in 1947. In the 1950’s, she and Maurice (Red) settled in Haltom City where she lived the rest of her life. Toy worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety for over 20 years before retiring. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Maurice W. Myers and daughter Frances Myers Ivy.
Survivors include her children Linda Myers Kuehn and husband Ken of Coppell, Tx and Maurice W. Myers of Paradise, Tx; grandson, Colton M. Myers of Wylie, Tx; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be 10-12 a.m. Thursday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, February 27 at Pickwick-McAdams Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pickwick-McAdams Cemetery, 573 Hilltop Road, Mineral Wells, Tx 76067.
