Thomas Edwin Simonton, Jr. 81 of Mineral Wells went home on April 18, 2012 to be with the love of his life, Martha who preceded him in death on September 8, 2011. Thomas was born September 7, 1930 at home in Fisk, Texas to Thomas Edwin Simonton Sr. and Willie Ann Love Simonton. Tom graduated from Mozelle High School in 1948 and went into the Air Force. He and Martha married on November 23, 1952. To this marriage, 4 wonderful children were born. Eddie and wife Carrie, along with grandkids Tommy IV and wife Elasha, Jenny and husband Pat, Selena Simonton, Brandon and Bailey Simonton, Amanda and husband Dillon Imboden and Kevin and Jessica McKee, great grandbabies, Quentin and Bowen Simonton, Caden and Sawyer Brown, Braxton, McKeeleigh and Keegan Imboden and John Wayne and Josie McKee. Jan Folkner and Steve Folkner and 2 grandchildren Steven and Patrick Folkner. Scott and wife Kelly along with grandkids Lacey and husband Shawn, Chelsea, Shelby, Scotty, Ty and Molly Simonton. Mar Lea and husband Bob Chapman along with grandkids Charlie and wife Caren, Jacob and Will Chapman and great grandkids Chase and Chance Chapman. Brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Anna Mae Simonton, sisters Carolyn and husband Bill and Polly Ann Wells.Tom was owner of Simonton Oil Co, Peppermill Square Restaurant and Package Store in Graford. He was a lifelong member and Elder of First Christian Church, Lower Forty Hunting Club, Lions Club (Noon and Graford), Lifelong member of Palo Pinto Sheriff's Posse and Palo Pinto County Livestock Association along with a huge supporter of all children in Palo Pinto County, he was one of the founding City Councilman of Mineral Wells that founded the current city government.Tom was a loving husband, father and paw paw. He loved spending time with family, whether it was at the lake, fishing or his house grilling.Pallbearers will be grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be the PPC Sheriff Posse. Visitation will be Friday April 20, 2012 from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home, and the funeral service is Saturday April 21, 2012 at 10 A.M. at Indian Creek Baptist Church with graveside services following at Woodland Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Tom's nephew Dr. Robert Sloan and grandson Tommy Simonton.In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Martha Simonton Scholarship Fund.There are not enough words to express the family's appreciation for the love and care Melody Porter gave our parents and a special thank you to Tracy from Encompass and to Aunt Polly, thank you for stepping in and taking care of your big brother.
