Thomas F. Putman, 80, passed away August 2, 2011 in a Mineral Wells nursing home. He was born June 15, 1931 in Haskell the son of Samuel Foster and Dorothy Gertrude Debusk Putman. He married Frieda Doris Holland on June 9, 1956 in Mineral Wells. He attended 1st - 4th grade school at Patton Springs in Dickens County and moved to Mineral Wells during the 4th grade in 1940. He attended the rest of 4th, 6, 7, and 8 grades at Travis (he skipped the 5th grade) and then attended the "Old, Old" high school on West Hubbard. He served in the US Navy from 7-20-1950 to 5-20-1954 on U. S. Valley Forge during the Korean War, he was a Fire Control Tech 3rd Class. When he got out of the Navy he worked at Alprodco for a year then moved to Lubbock and worked at Lubbock Machine and Manufacturing for 6 years. Then he and Frieda moved to Mineral Wells in 1963. He worked as a carpenter with his dad for several years. In 1965 Buddy and Sam built the house that Buddy and Frieda lived in until present day. Then he worked at Can-Tex as supervisor, production planner, and machine operator. In the 80's and 90's he worked at Dralco in Weatherford and Amco in Fort Worth. In 1992 he retired. He was baptized into Christ in February 1950 and was a member of Eastside Church of Christ and served as an elder. Services will be 10 AM Saturday, August 6, 2011 in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Alan White and Theiss Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Sturdivant Cemetery. He is survived by his wife: Frieda Putman of Mineral Wells, children and spouses: Anita Carol and Sherrod Rasmussen of Mineral Wells, Gwendolyn Kay Putman of Mineral Wells, Loyd Dewayne and Dianne Putman of Millsap, Randy Foster and Nancy Putman of Springtown, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, sisters: Coez Spurlock and Faye Smith both of Mineral Wells, and brother: Billy Putman of Seagoville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister: Betty Mahaffey.
