First son of Sue and Tom Creighton, he was raised in Mineral Wells and graduated from Mineral Wells High School. Will had a talent for music. He played clarinet, saxophone and guitar in marching and stage bands through high school and beyond. He enjoyed singing and entertaining. Will received his B.B.A. degree from Tarleton State University, and a M. A. degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Houston. He worked in various jobs throughout the country to support his snow-skiing and travel excursions. Will found his calling as a chef and trained at the Culinary Institute of America in upstate New York. Following graduation from the CIA, Will settled in Austin where he served as the Director of Food and Beverage for St. David's Hospital. He and his staff were recognized for the exceptional quality of food and innovative services at the hospital.Though Will worked in various states and travelled throughout the world, he was a Texan to the bone. His life was an adventure with new episodes to his story being created as he traveled and met new people; he was the guy who never met a stranger. He greatly enjoyed telling stories about his travels, and sharing good food with friends.During one of Will's great adventures, nearly eight years ago, he suffered a spinal cord injury. What would be devastating to most people served as the backdrop to Will's last adventure. The injury caused quadriplegia, limiting his movement from the shoulders up. With the assistance of friends and family Will moved forward without bitterness, displaying a great strength of character. He directed his own care, managed his care-giving staff and spun around the streets of Austin in an electric wheel chair guided by bumps and ticks with his head! He later relocated to Fort Worth, Texas to be closer to family. Will is survived by his mother Sue Creighton Ashley, his brother Kenneth Roy Creighton and wife Kay McMullen Creighton, his brother Mark Gregory Creighton and wife Mildred Cook Creighton, nieces Martha Lucille Creighton, Emily Jane Creighton, and Carly Mills and husband Christopher Robert Crittenden, nephews Thomas Benjamin Creighton and Parker Cook Creighton and wife Amanda Wagner Creighton.
