Sue Williams 78 a servant of Christ and longtime resident of Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County completed her stay on God's earth departing on October 5, 2017. She was preceded in death by her minister-businessman husband, Lon H. Williams. She is survived by six children: two sons: Dayle and his late wife Becky Williams of Fort Worth, Jeff and wife Quinn Williams of Millsap, four daughters: Cynthia Williams of Dallas, Kim Williams Caley of Fort Worth, Jim and Husband Chris McLelland of Aledo, Mariah Gopffarth and husband Neil of Mineral Wells, 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, one sister: Betty Shepard of Hobbs, New Mexico, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Bryson, Texas February 23, 1939 the daughter of Lloyd and Clarice Parton of Mineral Wells. She lived at Farmer in Young County and graduated from Graham High School where she was elected Freshman Class Favorite. She and her husband moved to Mineral Wells in 1963 and owned radio stations and newspapers in Texas, including KORC and KYXS and a county newspaper, The Advance, for several years. They founded the Lake Country Sun at Possum Kingdom Lake. Mrs. Williams, in addition to being a loving wife and mother, and minister's wife, also served as the chief financial officer of Williams Media, which expanded ownership of radio stations. She and her late husband sold all their media properties in 1992. They purchased and operated Century 21 Real Estate offices at Possum Kingdom Lake and Mineral Wells until 1996. Sue served as a Bible teacher, working alongside her husband at Church of Christ congregations in Perrin, Mineral Wells, and Gordonville Texas and Colbert, Oklahoma from 1966-1992. She, with her husband, was very active in local and foreign mission work. She was active in Christian Children's Fund, World Vision, Operation Smile, and Feed The Children. A member of Southside Church of Christ, until her death Sue continued her husband's work with World Christian Ministries. Services will be 10 AM Monday, October 9, 2017 at Southside Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Indian Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to World Christian Bible Ministries, Southside Church of Christ, PO Box 1249, Mineral Wells, TX 76068.
