It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Watson, on November 28, 2024, at the age of 87. Shirley was born on June 22, 1937, in Burnet, Texas to William Edward and Minnie Ethel Altman Pierce.
Shirley married Allison (Rod) Watson in September 1953. Her memory lives on with her children, Brenda Hall and husband Glen, Dale Watson and wife Charlotte, David Watson and wife Kristen, grandchildren Melea, Lacey, Kelsie, Kennedi and Kortney. Shirley also leaves behind great grandchildren Taryn, Nikki, and Kamdyn and great-great grandchildren Kadeias, Reagan, Rhylin, and Bexleigh. Also, several dear friends considered family.
Shirley was a strong and independent woman who managed to achieve the goals she desired. She had a talent for oil painting, cake decorating, sewing, flower arranging, crocheting, Poetry and was a wonderful cook. Throughout her life she had several businesses such as Shirley’s Curios in Perryton, Texas which consisted of imports, ceramics and classes, and oil painting lessons. Businesses in Woodward, Oklahoma were Shirley’s Flowers and gifts, and a Hot Shot service. She’s worked in a shoe store and a bakery. She’s been a bookkeeper and lastly, she worked and retired from Quality Quick Lube before moving to Mineral Wells, Texas in August 2014. Part of her retired pastime was spent watching game shows, working crossword puzzles, playing solitaire on her tablet and talking on the phone with friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Julius R. Altman, Orvid T. Altman, and Harold E. Pierce. Shirley had a deep love for the word of God. She loved to watch sermons from home. Shirley’s favorite was John Hagee from San Antonio, Texas.
Shirley finished well and lived a life of transformed grace. She is now resting in the arms of our loving Father.
Graveside service is scheduled for December 5, 2024, at 2:00pm at Nix Cemetery, Lampasas, Texas.
