Shirley Ruth Grimes

Shirley Ruth Grimes, 81, of Mineral Wells passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Shirley was born on October 21, 1937 in Oran, Texas to Charley and Esther Smith. She was the youngest of four girls. Shirley worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator before marrying Crockett Grimes to become a homemaker and mother.Shirley's interests included oil painting, crafts, and trips to Mexico. She got great excitement from finding a bargain at a garage sale to resell at the antique store. Shirley was a devoted long-time member of the Salesville Baptist Church.Shirley is survived by her husband, Crockett of 59 years; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Dorothy Grimes; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and George Gault; and granddaughter, Briana Watkins and numerous nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents Charley and Esther Smith; sisters, Pauline Cox, Dorothy Lowery and Jo Helen Flowers.Visitation will be 6-8 Wednesday evening at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10 am, Thursday, August 29 at Salesville Baptist Church with burial following at Staggs Prairie Cemetery.
