It is with great sadness that the family of Sherry Jeanne Crabtree, age 80, announces her passing on Sunday, December 3, 2023, surrounded by her family at Willow Park Rehabilitation and Care Center, Willow Park, Texas.
Sherry was born December 17, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Iris and Clifford Sanders. Sherry graduated high school in Ft. Worth, Texas, at Polytechnic Senior High School in 1960. Sherry married the love of her life Bobby Crabtree on December 30, 1976, in Arlington, Texas. Upon which Bobby and Sherry moved their family to Mineral Wells, Texas. In 1977 Sherry and Bobby found a home at First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells and volunteered to lead the single adult ministry for many years. In 1993 Sherry earned her BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington. Thereafter, she became a partner in the accounting firm of Crabtree, Crabtree & Lynn, LLP. Sherry always enjoyed the many travels to Colorado and upon her retirement in 2018, she chose to move there to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Durango.
Sherry was an avid reader of history, westerns, private-eye mysteries, and politics. She collected and supported southwestern Native American art with a particular fondness for the Cherokee Nation. She was active in local and state politics through the Palo Pinto County Republican Women. She also held her family history in high regard volunteering to be the custodian of her family records.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Bobby Crabtree (Spouse). Sherry is survived by her brother Bill Sanders of Mena, Arkansas; son, Robert and Luisa Nail of Houston, Texas; daughter, Erin (Missy) and Travis Grigsby of Durango, Colorado; three grandsons, Joshua Grigsby of Arlington, Texas, Boone Grigsby of Brooklyn, New York, and Sean Nail of Charlottesville, Virginia; sister-in-law, Rhonda and Danny Lynn of Mansfield, Texas; cousin, Laurel Beth and Butch Couturier of Michigan; niece, Lareasa and Timothy Philpot of Fort Worth, Texas; and nephew, Dustin and Whitney Lynn of Fort Worth, Texas.
On Thursday, January 4, there will be a visitation at 9:30 AM with the service following at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells. Pastor Nathan Buchanan will be officiating. Arrangements are by Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells, Willow Park Rehabilitation and Care Center, or Solaris Hospice Services of Willow Park. Sherry's family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Lakheram and Powan Singh, the nurses at the rehabilitation and care center, and Solaris Hospice Services.
