Shawnta Jill Ray Keener of Mineral Wells passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Baylor, Scott & White All Saints in Fort Worth. She was in the presence of her loving family.
Shawnta had battled Breast Cancer and survived several years ago and was diagnosed with Leukemia in late April. Facing her foe with grace, courage and dignity, she spent the last couple of months battling this implacable disease through chemotherapy treatments. She achieved temporary relief, but the complications and risks of the treatment along with the strength of the disease quickly overtook her.
Shawnta was born June 14, 1977 in Salesville, graduated from Mineral Wells HS and lived in Perrin, TX. She is survived by her husband Lewis Keener and daughter Clarissa Ray. She is the daughter of Shirley Ray who resides in Mineral Wells and her father pre-deceased Rudy Ray. Shawnta lived a dedicated and loyal life to her family and friends always caring for those in need even when she was the one in need. She was a Mineral Wells businesswoman in the lab and diagnostic industry and a cancer survivor. Shawnta and Lewis built a beautiful home and life for themselves in Perrin and it is there that Lewis and family will always be surrounded and comforted by her love and warmth from her resting place with God.
Family, friends and others whose lives Shawnta touched attended a memorial at the BAUM-CARLOCK-BUMGARDNER Funeral Home at 10:00 am Monday, June 20th at 302 West Hubbard Street Mineral Wells, TX 76067.
In lieu of flowers, Shawnta would have wanted any funds towards floral arrangements instead to be donated to the American Cancer Society at https://donate3.cancer.org
