Sandra June Hausler Nickols, born June 1, 1944 in Olney, Texas, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, stepmother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Elo and Fannie O'Dell Hausler, and her husband of over 50 years, James Wesley Nickols. The couple called Mineral Wells home for their entire marriage.
Sandy will always be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and gentle spirit. She was a devoted mother to her son Jayson and his wife Dawn, and a loving stepmother to James Richard and his wife Ellen, Mary Leslie and her husband James Craven, and Dwight Dean. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with each of them.
She was lovingly known as Meme to her eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren & numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.
Sandy was also a loving sister to Rebecca and her husband Bill Dixon. She and Becky shared a special bond that was unbreakable. They were not just sisters, but also best friends, who shared a lifetime of memories.
Sandy enjoyed a rich and fulfilling career, making wonderful friends along the way. Some of her positions included being a Helicopter Instructor at Fort Wolters during the Vietnam War, a position at the Mineral Wells Greyhound Bus Station, Office Administrator at Redi Auto Supply, Office Administrator at Barnett Motor Company, Administrative Assistant at Mineral Wells High School, and most recently, a 911 Dispatcher at the Palo Pinto Sheriff’s Department, which she really enjoyed. She was a kind and compassionate person who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her generosity, sincerity, and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation and funeral will be held at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. Times are as follows: Visitation on Saturday April 22nd from 6 PM to 8 PM, and Funeral on Sunday April 23rd at 2 PM. Immediately following we will travel for burial and graveside service in Olney, Texas, where she will be buried with her mother and father. All are welcome to attend, it would bring great comfort to the family.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
