Her love of friends, flowers, sewing and dolls will always be remembered about Ruby Christine Cozby, 86, who died July 9, 2009, with her daughter, son-in-law, her beloved puppy, Baby Bear, and family friends, Pam Ramsay and Amanda O'Brian, at her side. She had made her home with this family in Whitt for over two years and had a special relationship with her caregiver, Paula Clayton, whom she referred to as "her other Grand-Daughter."Public services will be held at 2:00 p.m., July 11, 2009, at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel. Brother Lonnie D'Armond of Salesville Baptist Church will preside over the ceremony. Robert Herring of Mineral Wells will sing. Pallbearers will include David Edwards of Haltom City, Allen Edwards of Santo, and Blaine Edwards of Santo. A private family burial will be held at Sap Oak Cemetery in Morgan Mill, Texas.Christine was born at home in Oklahoma on January 16, 1923 to Lela Fulfer and John "Uncle Bill" Durham. She grew up in Oklahoma and lived in Mineral Wells in short intervals when she was young. She moved to Mineral Wells in 1951 where she lived out her remaining years.Christine was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and three husbands, Jim Bartley Wright, O. B. Rogers, and Homer G. Cozby. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Millie Durham, James William Durham, Clinton "Bud" Durham, Florence Franks, Mary Wilhite.During her working years in Mineral Wells, Christine was a nurse at Owen's Sanitarium, a worker at the Mineral Wells Hosiery Mill, and a clerk at Blue's and Buddies Grocery Stores. She started the first canoe business at Dark Valley before retiring. She spent her later years with her family, gardening and sewing, but her favorite times were working with the Mineral Wells Senior Citizen Center participants and singing with the Silver Notes. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and loved to visit local churches during revivals. She remained an active spouse member of the FlyingTigers and supported the veterans' affairs groups.Christine is survived by three children and their spouses: Jessie Wright Teddlie and her husband Leon of Whitt, Levenia Wright of Longview, James Wright and his wife Rosemary of Longview, and one sister-in-law, Cloreen Durham of Mineral Wells. She is also survived by four grand-children and their spouses: Michelle Teddlie Simon and her husband Kristofer of Fort Worth along with their puppy, Liberty Belle, with all of whom she shared a special closeness. Also, grand-children include Jon and Angela Wright, Jimmy and Kathy Wright, and Steve and Rhonda Hambrick, all of Longview, along with six great-grandchildren - Austin, Rebecca, Heather, Tiffany, Jackson, and Vaughn - and many cousins, nieces and nephews.She was especially close to and loved her helpers and nurses from Integra Care Home Health and Hospice.The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mineral Wells Senior Citizen Center in Christine's memory.
