Ruby Bridges

On August 28, 2017, Ruby Lee McAvoy Bridges; at the ripe old age of 93; had the opportunity to leave her earthly body behind and join her heavenly family forever. She was a native of Possum Kingdom Lake, and a lifelong member of Lu Kingdom Baptist Church now known as First Baptist Church of Possum Kingdom Lake. She worked for the Graford ISD for many years, and was a favorite among the students. She was the daughter of Fred and Tempa McAvoy, and they preceded her in death as well as her husband Delbert Bridges; daughter Thelma Kimbrell; and infant daughter Baby Sister. She is survived by her daughter Tempie West of Roby, TX; daughter Therese Berry of Graford, TX; son Travis Bridges of Graford, TX; granddaughter Adrin Berry; grandsons Ty West, Lucas Bridges, Eli Bridges, and Orin Berry; great-grandchildren Kyler, Kadee, Sara, Alexis, Emma, Toebird, Shagnasty, Ladybug, and Butterfly. Visitation will be at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home on Wednesday night from 6-8 PM, and celebration of life services will be held at First Baptist Church of Possum Kingdom on Thursday at 10:00 AM.
