Royal Smiddy

Royal Luther "R. L." Smiddy, Jr., 92, passed away February 23, 2016 in Mineral Wells. He was born November 12, 1923 in Sulphur Springs, Texas the son of Luther and Lonnie Vaughn Smiddy. He married Donna Lee Anderson on March 1, 1946 in Weatherford, Texas. First and foremost, R. L. was a builder. He built dozens of houses and buildings all over North Texas. R. L. was a veteran of World War II, serving in the construction battalion of the US Navy "Seabee's" in the South Pacific. R. L. loved his family and treasured visiting with many friends, and he knew the Lord. Graveside services will be 4 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Perrin Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by his daughter: Reta Smiddy Foreman of Lewisville, son and daughter-in-law: Mike and Benita Smiddy of Mineral Wells, grandchildren and spouses: Sarah and Clay Holt of Mansfield, Kasey Foreman Enslin and husband Matt of Grapevine, Adam and Brooke Smiddy of Fort Worth, great-grandchildren: Autry Holt, Madeline Enslin, Rowan Smiddy, and Pace Holt, and sisters: Mozelle Parsley, Marie Baker, Mildred Walls, Edith Vandergriend, and Estelle Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on May 23, 2014 after over 68 years of marriage, infant son: Dale Glen Smiddy, brothers: Melvin, Wayne, and Gerald, and sisters: Juanita and Adelle.
