Roger Lee Hensley passed from this life to his Heavenly home on May 2, 2021, at the age of 66. Born on February 10, 1955, he was the eldest child of Robert Lee and Delores Jean Casler Hensley. He was a hard worker and worked most of his life. As a young boy he started with helping his maternal grandparents work their farm in May, OK by driving tractor, taking care of livestock and other farm work. He was a boy scout and later became a scout leader in his adulthood. In his teen years he worked for local grocery stores. He graduated Texhoma High School in 1973. After high school he went to work for a few aviation operations; in Texhoma at B&B flying service, Guymon at Thrall and Lubbock-where he even helped with Charlie Pride and other big names' aircrafts. In the mid-seventies he began his career in the gas distribution industry working for Southern Union Gas Company where he worked tirelessly for 20 years moving up from serviceman to area operations manager. After that he worked as a manager for The American Legion Post 75 before returning to the oil and gas industry.
He married his love Vickie Ranae Stapp on August 19, 1981 in Hooker, OK where they lived until 1987 when they moved to Borger, TX. After Borger, they moved to Beaver, OK where they lived until 1996 when they moved to their present home in Mineral Wells, TX. He was a member of the Borger Elks Lodge #1581 and The American Legion Squadron 75 in Mineral Wells.
Roger was proceeded in death by his dad Robert, his sister Lesa, his nephew Bradley and great nephew Korbyn. He is survived by his wife Vickie of the home, his mother Jean, his brother Rodney and wife Florence, his brother Ricky, nieces and nephews Shannon Hensley and son Brody, Whitney Surratt and husband Brandon and son's Bentley, Gus & Lionel, Bryan Hensley and wife Madeline, Chad Kautz, Morgan Daniels and husband Billy, Casey Hensley, Vanessa and Brooke Stapp, Bonus Daughters Amy (Toombs) Wilks, Brandy (Toombs) Trout and Kimberly (Littlejohn) Basler, alongside a host of family and friends.
Services will be at the First Christian Church in Texhoma, OK at 2:00pm Thursday, May 6, 2021 directed by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and the American Lung Association.
