Robert Leonard (Bobby) Stover left his earthly home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 23, 2023. Bobby. was born January 14, 1949 in Stephenville, Texas to Leonard Richard and Claudia Inez Day Stover. Even though he will be greatly missed by family and friends he now Rest In Peace with No Pain.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Mary Jo, two sons Chris Stover and wife Candice, Michael Stover and wife Robin, stepson, Brian Watson and wife Amy and stepdaughter, Lacy Watson. Grandchildren, Madelyn, Reese, Riley, Richard, Caleb and wife Kristen, Nick and wife Jasmin, step grandchildren, Lara, Megan and Katie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn and brother-in-law Ray Price.
Bobby graduated with the Class of 1967 from Mineral Wells ISD and attended North Texas State University. In his younger years he greatly enjoyed the Boy Scouts, tearing up the streets in Mineral Wells racing and being a lifeguard at the Baker Hotel his junior and senior years.
Bobby served as fire crewman, graphic illustrator, and drill Sargent in the US Army from 1970 through 1973. He received numerous letters of commendation for excellence in his work performance and was selected as Soldier of the Quarter for West Fort Hood. He received an honorable discharge in 1973. Bobby was skilled in all aspects of oilfield work, an expert in carpentry, was an experienced graphic illustrator, helicopter tugger and mechanic, state known wood carver, glass and mirror etcher, custom furniture builder, home builder and heavy equipment operator. Bobby was known to be a very skilled wood craftsman and made many state seals for county officials and even Governor Rick Perry which hung in the state capitol. He donated his work many times to be auctioned for many charitable organizations.
Honorable and Active Pallbearers are Bobby Johnson, Darrell Francis, Eddie Francis, Clyde Watson, Allen Crayon, A. D. Garrett, Robert Gonzalez, Baron Hunt, Kevin Thibodaux, Torey Pirtle, Famuel Wilson, Donnie Raffaele, Mike Ward, Bill Fortney, Robert Chivera and Roland Cole.
Service will be held, Wednesday, March 1, 2023, 2pm at First Baptist Church of Perrin, 400 FM 2210, Perrin, TX.
In lieu of flowers in honor of Bobby’s love for animals please donate to the Mineral Wells Animal Shelter or in honor of his service to our country donate to AMVETS Post 133 in Mineral Wells.
