Bud Smith, 82, of Mineral Wells, went to live forever in the House of the Lord, after a valiantbattle with lung cancer on December 1, 2011. He was comforted while passing to his new life byhis loving wife, daughters, his loyal four legged companion, his "little boy", Skeeter, and a greatfamily friend Donna Lucado.Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Barry Holmes, will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 2 PMin the Baum Carlock Baumgardner Funeral Home Chapel in Mineral Wells. Pallbearersare William Eudy, Oscar Choate, Jerry Van Natta, Jim Murray, Clark Craig, and Eddie Fryer. Visitation will be held from 6 pm -8 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Woodland Park Cemetery.Bud was a very quiet, kind, loyal, and compassionate man who went about life quietly lovingGod, his family, his country, and his community.His greatest love was his wife, Bobbie, for whom he gave wings, as he loved her, honored her,cherished her, and supported her, unconditionally. This unwavering love radiated to his girls, hisson-in-law, his grandsons, their wives, his great-granddaughters, and his "little boy" Skeeter, asthey were his life.His second love, one that gave him tremendous pride, was selflessly serving as a volunteerfirefighter with the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department for over thirty years. He loved theDepartment and mentoring the "young-uns" as they joined to serve the community.Bud served in the U. S. Army in Korea. He worked for the Mineral Wells Police Department,Southern Airways, and retired from Garrett's Auto Parts in 1982 after his diagnosis of AlzheimerDisease.Bud is survived by his soul mate and loving wife of 53 years, Bobbie Smith; his "little boy"Skeeter; daughter, Renda Smith; daughter and son-in law, Robbie and Albert Chriestenson;grandson's, granddaughter's and great granddaughter's: Chad, Ashley and Baylee Chriestensonand Robert, Terrie and Kassie Chriestenson; sister and brother in law, Micki and Billy Foust, all ofMineral Wells; nephew and niece General Jerome and Roz Foust of Rockport. Beloved friends,Donna Lucado, Roy Wasson and his mom, Roberta Williams.
