Robert Helterbran

Robert Eugene Helterbran 92 of Dallas passed away September 24, 2014. Robert was born in Carolina, West Virginia; the son of the late Clifford and Josephine (Chuboy) Helterbran. He was 1 of 9 children; 6 boys and 3 girls. Robert was raised in Pennsylvania and joined the Army when he was 16. Robert married Lola Felts January 15, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia. She followed him during his Army career to many Army posts including Japan, St. Louis, Missouri, Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Mineral Wells. Following his 22 years in the Army retiring as a Warrant Officer he was a flight instructor for Southern Airways. Robert was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. Robert and Lola had 4 children; James Robert Helterbran, David Drewy Helterbran, JoAnn Helterbran Peaden and Clifford Eugene Helterbranand. Robert also had a son from a previous marriage; Robert E. (Buddy) Helterbran. He is survived by wife of 68 years Lola Helterbran; his 5 children; brother Bill Helterbran; grandchildren Tracy Helterbran Washington of Washington, DC, Ben Helterbran of Virginia, Rob Helterbran of Maryland, Marla Peaden Pollone and Karla Peaden Gaskill both of Mineral Wells, Hailey Helterbran and Hannah Helterbran both of Coppell along with 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday September 29, 2014 6-8PM. Funeral service will be Tuesday 10AM in the funeral home chapel with military honors burial following at Woodland Park Cemetery.
