Ricky Donald Thornton

Ricky Donald Thornton, 69, died with his family at his side, Monday, June 6, 2022, in Mineral Wells. Rick was born on February 25, 1953, in Fort Worth, the son of Thurman Wylie and Burkie Wheeler Thornton, where he worked many years for Thornton Door Co. before retiring in 2010.

Rick enjoyed many pastimes, such as gardening, reading, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, and singing in his beautifully rich baritone. In his younger days he found great joy with friends and family bowling, going to college football games, and gathering to play games. Above all else, Rick loved his family. He went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and he is reunited with his father and mother. Rick is survived by his brothers Doug Thornton and his wife Judy of Lone Camp, Texas, and Larry Thornton and his wife Phyllis of Washougal, Washington; his sister G’na Gayle of Manor, Texas; many nephews, nieces, cousins; other relatives; and friends he loved dearly.

The funeral will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 10, 2022, at Lone Camp Baptist Church, with visitation preceding the funeral at 10 AM. Reverend Brad Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery.
