Raymond Alford Tomlin, 91, passed away December 22, 2017 in Mineral Wells. He was born May 11, 1926 in Walnut Grove the son of Aubrey and Faye Rollins Tomlin. He married Cordelia Arnold on July 4, 1947 in Tyler. He had lived in Mineral Wells for the past 5 years and in Weatherford prior to that. He was a member of the Mineral Wells Church of God. He served as an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God for over 60 years. He pastored COG congregations in Hastings, Nebraska; Canon City, Colorado; Freedom (Emory), TX; Slaton, TX; Plainview, TX; Freedom (Emory), TX; Brownfield, TX; Kilgore, TX; and Whitehouse, TX. He was also State Evangelist for the Churches of God in Texas on three different occasions as well. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army. Services will be 10 AM Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Mineral Wells Church of God. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Mineral Wells Church of God. There will be another service 2 PM Friday, December 29, 2017 in the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel in Troup. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. He is survived by his wife: Cordelia Tomlin of Mineral Wells, children and spouses: Raymond Lee and Debbie Tomlin of Lubbock, Martin and Rosalinda Tomlin of Helotes, Sharon Walker of Pennington, Jerrel and Melinda Tomlin of Mineral Wells, grandchildren: Leslie, Carrie, Melissa, Jerry, Taylor, Martin Dean, and Analissa, numerous great-grandchildren, sister: Ruby Zardiackas of Caldwell, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Ray, Rayburn, Reba, Roy, and Richard, and grandson: Tracy Tomlin.
