Porfirio Ornelas "P.O." Gonzales, 73, of Mineral Wells, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Mineral Wells. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Jeff Poirot officiating. Rosary will be 7 PM Thursday at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel. Burial will be at the Woodland Park Cemetery with Benny and Freddie Mata, Gilbert, Robert and Jimmy Gonzales, Jimmy and Ralph Anguiano and Cecil Huddleston serving as pallbearers. Mr. Gonzales was born March 26, 1936 in Santa Anna, Texas, the son of Fidencio and Susie Ornelas Gonzales. He moved to Mineral Wells in 1954 and was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He married Stella Mata who preceded him in death September 21, 1994. He was a retired veteran of the United States National Guard. He worked in Glen Rose at the Comanche Peak Power Plant and later as Mess Hall supervisor at Fort Wolters. Survivors include his children and their spouses:, Barbara and Buddy Olson of Mineral Wells, Eddie and Lanea Gonzales of Mineral Wells, John and Susan Gonzales of Houston, Norma Jean and Daniel Starnes of Mineral Wells, Jerry Gonzales of Mineral Wells and Gabe and Jimmy Gann of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Michael Godi, Shayla Lynn, Shonna Jo, Shaun Paul, Ashley, Brittany Lane, Cierra, Cassie, Chance, Alex, Eddie, Jr, Lillee, and Holden; great-grandchildren, Estella, Thomas, Victoria, Tyler, Mason, Julian , Liliana, Spencer, Basy Joe, Tyson, Cara, Lilly, Braley, Kody, Bailee, Kenneth Jr., Cheyenne, Hanna, and Anthony; brother and sister-in-law, Marcus and Aline Gonzales of Mineral Wells; numerous nieces and nephews.
