Porfiria B Gutierrez, our Wonder Woman. She was the wittiest, funniest, smartest, and most artistic person we knew. Her garden was the envy of the neighborhood. Porfiria was not afraid to speak her mind, but also would love and embrace anyone in need. She left this world Wednesday June 3rd ,2020 to be back in God’s outstretched arms. She was 84 years old.
Rosary is 6:30 pm, Sunday, June 7th at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral mass is 10 am Monday, June 8th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mineral Wells Tx. The funeral will be live streamed, due to COVID-19, on Facebook at Our Lady of Lourdes page.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given in her name to Our Lady of Lourdes Food Bank or building fund, American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer Association.
Porfiria was born February 26th, 1936 to Luis and Guadalupe Benavides. She was blessed to have 2 sets of parents as she was raised by Ignacio and Dominga Ramirez after her birth mother passed away. She led life to the fullest and on January 17th, 1960 married the love of her life, Heriberto Gutierrez. She was his angel and queen. They had 5 children together in their 60 years of marriage. She was a housewife who raised her children to be kind, respectful and to be educated, working members of society. She worked as a volunteer in her church and with the school district. Porfiria had a servant’s heart and volunteered tirelessly at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was a member of the Guadalupanas and Catholic Daughters.
Porfiria believed in independence, education for women and for women to support themselves. While her children were getting their primary education, she acquired her GED.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Felipa Benavides; brothers, Ramon Benavides, Francisco Benavides, Felix Benavides, Benito Ramirez, Humberto Ramirez; sister-in-law, Nora Ramirez; and great grandson, Preston Summers.
Survivors include her husband, Heriberto Sr.; her children, Maria Lourdes (TJ) Jones, Heriberto Gutierrez Jr., Jorge (Deana) Gutierrez, Esmeralda (Henry) Lara, Dominga Gutierrez; grandchildren, Daphne, Lily, Ricky, Jesus, Alina, Valora, Vanessa, Mandy, Mark, and Anjelica; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Jonathan, Zachery, Jacob, Nikolai and Mason, Adrien and Isabella; brothers, Leonel (Consuelo) Ramirez, Juan Ramirez; sisters, Ana Garcia, Rosa Martinez; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Ramirez and Adelina Benavides; along with many Gutierrez brothers and sisters in law who she loved very much and many loved nieces and nephews.
