Paul Ray Hopkins, 66, was called home to be with his LORD and Savior on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 following a brave and courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 28, 1943 in Paris, Kentucky. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. A veteran of the United States Army, he serves with the Army Security Agency stationed Turkey and Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells where he met the love of his life and became a transplanted Texas. He married Sonora Watkins, June 12, 1965 and had lived in Mineral Wells since that time. On September 28, 2009, after 36 years of service he retired from the Federal Aviation Administration when he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. He was a member of Ballew Springs Baptist church. Visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 PM at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 2 PM Monday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Rev. Gregg Willis officiating, interment following at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Wells, Dutch Watkins, Russ Marshall, Gene Storm, Ignacio Esqueda and Glenn Van Wyk. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Rogers and Charles Stutzman. Survivors include his wife, Sonora of 45 years, two sons, Paul Christopher, Sr. and wife Beverly and Anthony Todd Hopkins; granddaughter, Stacie Hopkins; grandson, Paul Christopher Hopkins, Jr.; step-grandsons, Chance and Joshua Clarke; sister-in-law, Tommie Cate and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ike and Barbara Watkins.
