Oscar Lee Mahan, 84, of Mineral Wells, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 12, at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with burial in the Graford Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy, Larry, Kirk, Chanc and Ronnie Mahan and Don Tucker and the honorary pallbearers will be Shannon McCray, Eddie Crook, Randall and Daniel Rowland.Mr. Mahan was born March 23, 1924, in Palo Pinto County, Texas, the son of Elzie and Minnie Stephens Mahan. He married Minnie B. Jackson and she preceded him in death November 30, 2003. He owned and operated the Mahan Paint and Body shop from 1959 and he and his sons operated it until 1992. He loved being in the outdoors. He was a U. S. Army Cavalry veteran of WWII, a member of Mineral Wells VFW Post 2399, American Legion Post 79. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was baptized many years ago in the Brazos River.Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Bud and Barbara Mahan of Mineral Wels, Jerry and Heidi Mahan of Germany and Jr. and Bonnie Mahan of Mineral Wells; daughter, Caroline Tucker of Mineral Wells; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sister and husband, Bobbie and Rick Hanes of Olden, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by three sisters.
