Opal Olene Crain of Mineral Wells passed away October 1, 2014 and is now in her Lords loving arms. Funeral service will be Saturday October 4 at 10AM in the funeral home chapel with burial following at Woodland Park Cemetery. Opal was born in Detroit, Alabama the daughter of the late Robert and Betty Stanford. Opal had quite a work history in Mineral Wells, from working at the Baker Hotel, doing just about every duty available at the Crazy Water Hotel for over 30 years and working at the Box Factory. In her younger years she was a very good basketball player in Mississippi. She enjoyed bingo in her spare time, but her passion was reading; anything she could get her hands on. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Survivors are daughters Linda and husband Jerry Sparks, Tammy and husband David Jones, Betty and husband James Jarman and Sandra and husband Clay Poynor; sisters Ruth and husband Morris Lovell, Fay Ray, Laverne and husband Phillip Thompson; brother Robert and wife Regina Stanford; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and one on the way; special nephew Bobby Stanford; special niece Marsha Leathers along with numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Robert and Betty Stanford; husbands Lee Otis Harris, Louis Shields and Lawrence Crain; son Bobby Dale Harris; daughter Barbara Harrison; brothers Tuck, Tommy and Redden Stanford and a granddaughter Shelly Riggs.
