Opal Cole

Opal Ann Cole, 82, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 in Mineral Wells. Opal was born January 4, 1937 in Sterling City, Texas, the daughter of William Henry and Mary Ann Miller Stovall. She married Warren B. Pruitt on April 11, 1955 in Marietta, Oklahoma. They had two children together, Deborah and Kevin, who were the apples of her eye and who loved their mother very much. She attended Weatherford High School and she was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells. She came from very humble beginnings. Early on she learned how to juggle being a wife, mother and an independent and savvy businesswoman with a excellent work ethic. She would always be the first person to greet you at the door at Cole's House of Flowers and she would work tirelessly for all sorts of events in Mineral Wells until her retirement in 2003. She was the co-owner of the florist for many years with her second husband O. D. Cole, who preceded her in death in 2016. In addition to her busy and fulfilling work life, she was a valuable volunteer for many organizations around the Palo Pinto County area. She was a member of the Texas State Florist Association, West-Texas Florist Association, Fort Worth Florist Association, Mineral Wells Zonta Club, Mineral Wells Merchants Association, Palo Pinto General Hospital Auxiliary, Ladies of Moslah Shrine, Palo Pinto Shrine Club, Mineral Wells Woman's Club, and the Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce. A celebration of life and visitation will take place on Friday, January 11th from 6-8 pm at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. A private family service will be held Saturday at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Weatherford at 1pm. Opal is survived by her children: Deborah Pruitt of Fort Worth, Kevin Warren Pruitt and wife Eileen Gill of Austin, sister: Wynell Bland of North Richland Hills, brother: William Stovall Jr. and wife Sharon of Weatherford, and numerous extended family.
