Oleta M. Mills

Oleta Mills (Douglas), a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 87 in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Born on May 26, 1937, in Young County, Texas, Oleta was a vibrant and caring soul. She graduated from Old High in Wichita Falls, Texas, and embarked on a fulfilling 40-year career at Nabisco, where she rose to the position of Operations Manager of the Oklahoma City Distribution Center. She kept in contact with her co-workers up until her death, more than 20 years after retiring.

Oleta was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an avid crafter, finding joy in painting wooden creations and arranging floral masterpieces inside of them that were skillfully made by her husband Charles. She was also a talented singer and dancer, often brightening the room with her infectious energy.

Oleta’s love for her family was unwavering. She cherished spending time with her loved ones, and her home was always open to close friends and family. She was affectionately referred to as Aunt Leeter by her nieces and nephews and Mammie by those who knew her after her first granddaughter was born. She was kind and compassionate, always ready to lend a helping hand. 

Oleta was preceded in death by her parents, James Samuel Douglas and Stella Pearl Douglas; her siblings, Clarence, Homer, and Emerson Douglas, Mary Brackeen, Gracie Brady, Pat Lucas, Lila Fudge, Ethel Brackeen; her daughter, Tammy Renea Foster; her husband, Charles W. Mills; granddaughter Lindsey Lauren Leek, and many beloved pets.

She is survived by her son, Randy Leek and his wife Shawna; her grandchildren, Courtney Talley and her husband Jim, Robert Foster, Scott Leek, and Brittany Sorrells and her husband Michael; and her great-grandchildren, Evelyn Jane Foster, Jacqueline Renea Talley, chace Talley, Mackenzie Talley, Caitlynn Talley, Meegan Talley, Shane Sorrells, and Witten Sorrells.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells, TX. The graveside service will begin Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells, TX.

Oleta will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
