Oather Pope

Oather Pope, 86, passed away June 12, 2012 at a rehabilitation center in Weatherford. Graveside services will be 10 AM Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Peaster Cemetery in Parker County with Rev. Dennis Arnold officiating. Viewing is at the funeral home. Oather was born April 29, 1926 in the Peaster Community. He was preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Collie Pope, wife: Marie, all of the Peaster Community, sister: Alma Pope Burkhalter, brothers: Ira and Roy Pope, step-daughters: Margaret Hibbitts and Margie Grice, and step-grandson: Lamar Hibbitts III. He did repair work and painting in Weatherford. Prior to that he worked in the oil fields in East Texas and West Texas. Oather enjoyed telling stories about bye-gone days. He is survived by nephews: Alton Burkhalter of Mineral Wells, Charles Burkhalter and Waymon Burkhalter of Weatherford, son-in-law: W. L. Hibbitts of Mineral Wells, step-grandchildren: Mark Schmalzrieo of Flower Mound, Debbie Schmalzrieo and Bobby Schmalzrieo both of Colorado, Kim Hirth of Crowley, Barbara Huddleston of Mineral Wells, John Wayne Hibbitts of Palo Pinto, Ronnie Cooper of the Houston area, and numerous great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
