Norma Winifred Gleghorn Cummings, born on Halloween, October 31, 1920, passed into eternal life on Independence Day, July 4, 2010 in her 89th year of life. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 1:30 PM Friday, July 9, 2010 at Grapevine Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband of 54 years, Wade Cummings. Norma graduated as salutatorian from Irving High School. She was a bookkeeper for several businesses that she and her husband owned including Grapevine Ice Company. She was a talented decorator, seamstress, and cook. A tiny woman with a big heart, she was a faithful servant of the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Cummings, her son, Wayne Cummings, and her grandson, Sterling Venable. She is survived by her daughter. Judith Smith; daughter, Vonda Hines, and son-in-law, Robert Hines, daughter, Jeanne Venable; grandsons, Vincent Hines and E. Wade Venable; granddaughters, Leah Hines and husband, Steven Maksymowski, and Valarie Venable; granddaughter-in-law, Misty Venable; great-granddaughters, April Moore and husband, Shawn Moore, and Chelsea Venable, great-grandson, Cody Venable, and great-great-granddaughter, Stella Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews.
