Myra Lee Smith of Millsap, Texas passed suddenly at the age of 82 years. Myra was born in Oklahoma to Walter and Rosie Powell. She was raised in Lubbock, Texas where she attended Monterey High School. After high school, Myra attended Texas Tech University where she obtained a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees, and also her teaching certification. She loved teaching and for many years she worked as a teacher and lived in Pecos, Texas with her first husband until his death. She later moved to Mineral Wells to be closer to family.
After moving to Mineral Wells, Myra met and married Norman Smith in 2007. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and serving in their local church. They were a sweet and generous couple to all that knew them, and loved each other dearly. As Norman’s health failed, Myra loved and cared for him in his last years before he passed away in November of 2021.
Myra was a spiritual mentor and a source of strength for her family and friends. She was dedicated to the Word of God and spreading God’s love wherever she went. Myra believed strongly in the power of prayer and was often called upon by her family and friends to pray for them. She will be remembered as a light for Jesus to all those she encountered.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Myra’s family appreciates all those in the community of Mineral Wells who loved and cared for her so well.
