Milton went to be with the Lord after he won his long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma on September 12, 2014. He was the best son, husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and nephew we have ever known. We all know he is in Heaven watching us all and will never leave our hearts. He was born September 4, 1954 in Lubbock the son of Harold and Jackie Chesnut Rucker. He was baptized at First Baptist Church in Lubbock on November 1, 1964. He was an avid Boy Scout earning the God and Country Award. He married Janice Handy on July 25, 1975 at Live Oak Baptist Church in New Salem. He obtained his surveying license and carried on the family legacy started by Lindsey P. Rucker who surveyed the Republic of Texas boundary in 1836. He furthered his education with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University in 2003. He owned and operated Rucker Surveying from 1988-2001. He was a broker at Brazos Country Real Estate. He was a Sergeant Reserve Deputy Sheriff in the Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Department. He had many hobbies including collecting, traveling, donating to charities, and most of all spending time with his family who loved him dearly. Services will be 10 AM Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Southside Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Bosley Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be A. G. Edwards, Micah Hamilton, Chris Walker, Brayden Hamilton, Rowe Miller, Jim Handy, Jim Glodfelty, and Jerry Conner. The honorary pallbearers will be Lon Williams, Keith Chesnut, Raymond Chesnut, and the Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Department. He is survived by his wife: Janice Rucker of Mineral Wells, children and spouses: Kelly and Micah Hamilton of Santo, Kerrie and Chris Walker of Mineral Wells, Kyle and Christie Rucker of Mineral Wells, grandchildren: Brayden and Brett Hamilton, Ally and Blake Rucker, parents: Harold and Jackie Rucker of Santo, sister and brother-in-law: Anita and Rowe Miller of Santo, numerous other family and friends, and faithful, furry, companion Suzy Dog. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister: Cathy Lynn Rucker. Donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in his memory.
