Mr. Mike Olivares, Jr., age 89, went home to be with his heavenly Father on January 1, 2020. He was born January 13, 1930 in Dallas, TX to Mike and Valentina Olivares. Mike was proud of his service to his country and was a past member of the National Guard and was honorably discharged as a Corporal with the Army Military Police. An active member of the American Legion Post 191 in Breckenridge, TX, he served as the first Hispanic commander in Texas. Mike and his wife, Sandra Seay Olivares, who preceded him in death in 2009, started M & S Distributing Company in 1968. Mike was always ready to help anyone in need, and he was a proud member of the First Christian Church. Mike is survived by the love of his life and precious companion, Gwen Rogers; sisters, Mary Lois Burns, Liandra Alcorta and husband Joe, and Benita Stokes; children, Mike Olivares, IV, Lisa Sorell and Kirk Olivares; 4 grandchildren, Mike Olivares V and wife Cori, Rachel Sorell, Lindsey Sorell, and Monica Olivares; 3 great-grandchildren Blake Sorell, Mike Olivares VI and Ezra Olivares; numerous nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to your local American Legion.
