Mike Braswell passed away July 25, 2023. He was born Joseph Robert Michael Braswell on March 21, 1946 in Paris, Tennessee to Bumpass and Grace Braswell. Mike graduated from Grove High School and attended Memphis State University. Upon graduation, Mike joined the Air Force becoming a pilot flying Tankers for 6 years out of Wurtsmith AFB, Oscoda, Michigan, supporting the Vietnam War. He was transferred to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas where he served as a Tanker pilot and Tanker instructor.
He left the Air Force and remained in Fort Worth. He joined DeWayne Whitehead at Classic Car Company in Weatherford buying, selling, and restoring classic automobiles, later moving to Fort Worth to open Classic Car Racing.
Mike’s hobbies included motorcycle racing, street biking, drag racing, street rodding, and fishing. He was known for his sense of humor, extreme intelligence, coolness under pressure, slow but sure mechanical skills, and problem solving.
Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jane Braswell; brother, Jimmy Braswell and wife Suzy; and his classic car collection; and last but not least, many, many friends.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Lone Camp Community Center. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Brazos Volunteer Fire Department, 201 E. Rusk St, Santo, Texas 76472.
