Melva Martin

Melva Joyce Martin, 82, passed away January 4, 2014 in a Weatherford nursing home. She was born September 11, 1931 in Grapevine the daughter of Robert M. Sr. and Lavada Ann Norwood Moore. She married Johnnie Lewis Martin on September 23, 1949 in Grapevine and they were married for 64 years. She was a charter member of the Possum Kingdom EMS, a member and past president of the PK Women's Club, and the Music Minister at Community Church of PK. She loved to sing. Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at First Baptist Church of PK. Burial will follow in McAdams Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. She is survived by her husband: Johnnie Lewis Martin, daughter and son-in-law: Peggy and David Todd, son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Brenda Martin, brother and sister-in-law: Jerry and Janie Moore, sister: Barbara Maples, grandchildren: Erin Dewbre, Wesley Martin, and Isaac Whatley, great-grandchildren: Hayden and Emma Dewbre, 4 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a myriad of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother: Robert (Sonny) Moore, Jr. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Assn., or Community Church of Possum Kingdom Building Fund, 251 N FM 2353, Graford, TX 76449.
