Mattie McCann

Mattie Afton Armstrong McCann, 91, of Mineral Wells, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2009 in Mineral Wells. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday at the City View Trinity Church with Rev. Kay Pierce and Rev. Glen Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Dilbeck Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Larry Watson, Jr., Jimmy Perez, Andy Perez, Charley McGraw, Marvin McGraw and John Dobbs. Mrs. McCann was born August 16, 1918 in Parker County, Texas the daughter of John Baker and Willie Lee Stout Armstrong. She married J. D. McCann, November 18, 1940 in Weatherford and he preceded her in death November 18, 1981. The family is eternally grateful for the love, kindness and great faith passed along to us by her. The sense of family we were taught to respect each other and always stand strong with and for one another. We will miss your sweet smile and encouraging words but are comforted that we will "Meet you in the morning, one sweet day." She is survived by her loving family, 10 children: Audene and J. D. Brumbaugh of Hartville, MO, Irene and Clarence Melancon of Spring, Paulene Schulte of Mineral Wells, Lillie and Kenny Murphey of Huntsville, Inez and Lupe Perez of Mineral Wells, Jake and Ann McCann of Huntsville, Katie Dobbs of Mineral Wells, Kathy Armstrong of Doyline, LA and Karen and Charles McGraw of Mineral Wells; 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son John, John L. McCann in 1970.
