Matt was called home to the glory of God on October 30, 2015. He would have been 57 years old on November 6th. Memorial services will be 2 PM Monday, November 2, at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.Matt was born in Amarillo, the son of Jack Dale and Doris Nadine Armstrong Baker and grew up in Lubbock, Texas. He joined the Navy where he spent 10 years. He served aboard the USS America, the USS Kennedy and the USS Eisenhower.After the Navy, Matt and his sister Tanna became the first brother and sister to graduate from the South Plains College Nursing Program. He worked as a nurse for 15 years at the Burn Intensive Care Unit at UMC in Lubbock before moving to Mineral Wells six years ago to work for Dr. Eric Brock. He lived in Mineral Wells for the past six years and was a Baptist. He never met a stranger and he was one the "good guys".He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy, his mother, Doris Pettiet and brother, Mark Baker. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Rose Moore of Monroe, Washington; two granddaughters, Lilly and Audrey; father, Jack Baker and stepmother, Sonya Baker of Hillsboro, Oregon; sister and brother-in-law, Tanna and Angel Gonzalez of Mineral Wells; step-children, Shelly, Robert and Christie; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, step-grandchildren and friends.The family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or Wounded Warrior Project, 2200 Space Park Drive, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77058.
