Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth“ Walker passed from this life on February 26, 2025. She was born March 5, 1958 in Burbank, CA, to parents Robert Kent Stanton and Betty Gaines Stanton.
She was a graduate of El Dorado High School, Placentia, CA, in 1976, where she played the flute in Band and Orchestra. She achieved three advanced degrees to propel her career in professional nursing and medical practice: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1980), Texas Christian University; Advanced Nurse Practitioner (1990), Univ. of TX Southwestern Medical Center; Master of Science (1995) Texas Women’s University.
She started her professional career as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1980, working in emergency care at Harris Methodist Hospital, and women’s health NP (OB-GYN) at John Peter Smith Hospital, and local Planned Parenthood clinics. For 18 years, she led the simulation lab at Harris College of Nursing, TCU. She then worked for Palo Pinto General Hospital as Education Manager (2013-2018).
Mary Beth found solace in gardening, watching murder-mystery shows, listening to music, and caring for animals at the T4 Taylor Family Ranch in Palo Pinto County. She was also an active member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She helped establish the Parish Nurse program in Arlington, TX at Rush Creek Christian Church. She served as Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Elder at First Christian Church (Mineral Wells, TX).
She is survived by her husband James Jesse “Jimmy” Walker (m: 1979); sister Jessica Mohr; brother Robert Stanton; brother- and sister-in-law Steve & Myrna Walker; children: Andy Walker (m: Mary), Cici Fritts (m: Logan); grandchildren Maddy, Hudson, & Ainsley Fritts, Addie, Samuel, Clair, & Lawrence Walker; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the First Christian Church in Mineral Wells.
