Mary McAvoy

Mary Sue Wilhoit McAvoy, formerly of Possum Kingdom Lake, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, in Amarillo, Texas. Sue was born Dec. 30, 1937, in Spur, Texas. She was the youngest of nine children born to Roy and Ruth Wilhoit. She is preceeded in death by her son, Allen McAvoy. Sue is survived by her daughter, Pam McSwain and husband Vance of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Jessica Veriato and husband Steven of Wimberley, Amanda Callaway and husband Kevin of Wimberley, Ryan McSwain and wife Tricia of Amarillo, and Evan McSwain of Joplin, Missouri; a great-grandson, Brasen; a great-granddaughter, Sophia; her brother Bobby Wilhoit of Perrin; many loving nieces and nephews, and her husband of 55 years, Glen McAvoy, of Amarillo. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Baum Carlock Bumgardner Chapel. Burial will be at McAdams Cemetery at Possum Kingdom Lake.
