Mary Kathryn Smith, 82, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021. She was born September 3, 1939 in Limon, CO. Mary worked at Palo Pinto General Hospital for many years. We all knew her as Grandma. Mary loved to feed, comfort, protect, and listen to everyone. She enjoyed cooking, family events, bowling, camping, bingo, and going to the casino. Most of all she loved living on the Brazos River.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Jean Butterfield, who died in action during the Vietnam War and by her late husband, Bruce “Smitty” James Smith; both helicopter pilots. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James and Roberta Housh Edwards; children, Virginia Sires and Kevin Smith; and sister, Patty Adkins.
Survivors include her children, Theresa Butterfield, Pam Franklin and husband Mike, Marvin Butterfield, Stephen Smith, and Kelly Harbour and husband Mike; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. We will miss our Sweet Grandmother.
