Mary Elizabeth Cahill Hawkins was born in Burkburnett, Texas on September 13, 1920, to Laurence Nicholas Cahill and Sallie  Harmon Cahill, and passed away in Arlington, Texas on February 9, 2020, at the remarkable age of 99.

When Elizabeth was three years old, her mother passed away; she was raised by her father and loving step-mother, Essie Rahm Cahill.

She married John Wesley Hawkins in Archer City, Texas, on March 8, 1941; they made their home in Mineral Wells, Texas. While he served in World War II, she worked as a dental assistant at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. After the war, they returned to Mineral Wells where they raised their two daughters. After John’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling with the Sojourners and Good Sam RV clubs. They were married 57 years until his death on December 7, 1998.

Elizabeth was baptized at age thirteen; and after her marriage, became a faithful member at Southside Church of Christ, where she taught Bible classes. She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and an excellent self- taught seamstress. She enjoyed her yard and flower gardens. After John’s death, Elizabeth regularly played canasta with a group of close friends.

Services will be 2 PM Friday, February 14, 2020 at Southside Church of Christ. Visitation is from 1-2 PM Friday at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery.
